My Language 1 Self-Assessment
Hi everyone, it’s me again and I hope you are well.
First, I want to talk about my experience learning English Language I. The truth is that I had a lot of fun. I love seeing my progress and finding my weak points, so I know where I need to improve. I’m happy to be in a class where I feel comfortable. I have very good teachers and classmates, and I think the classroom is a safe place for me to learn. I’m really enjoying every step I’ve taken to be here today.
I remember when I arrived at Andres Bello University, I only knew a few words and some expressions in English. When I had my first listening test, I understood nothing. The British accent was very different and difficult for me because I had only heard the American accent before. It was something completely new, and I felt a little scared because sometimes I doubt my abilities. But I am learning, and I think this is part of the process. As time goes on, I see that I’ve really improved my listening skills, and I am very happy about that.
Now, let’s talk about my subjects in English I. Writing is still one of my weak points. I get confused with the order of sentences. I still get confused with grammar, how to make some questions, or with some verbs and connectors. But I’m sure I will write perfectly very soon. I know I need practicing, but with time, I will improve more and more every year as I grow and learn at the university.
I like reading. I think it is one of my strengths. I like that all the classes with English Language and Use of English teachers complement each other. Also, it has been really fun learning phonetics with minimal pairs and homophones, and learning about the sounds of English consonants and vowels. I also enjoyed phonemic transcription, with monophthongs, diphthongs, long and short vowels, and the way to say each sound. Because of this, I have improved my pronunciation a lot. I think it is really interesting to learn a new language.
Now we have started with irregular and regular verbs in the simple past. I haven’t learnend all of them yet, but I will. I feel thankful and blessed to be here learning English with wonderful people. I really love the progress I had, since the first class until today.
That is all for now. Life is beautiful. I am following one of my dreams, so I am really happy with my progress learning English at the moment. Thank you for reading my first self-assessment.

My Thoughts About Unit 3 Topics (Use of English)
Hi everyone, I would like to share my thoughts on the topics from Learning Unit 3: “I love Taylor Swift! Do you…?” To begin with, one of the biggest challenges for me was learning the present simple tense with the pronouns ‘he,’ ‘she,’ and ‘it’-specifically, adding ‘s’ at the end of the verb. It was really confusing for me.
In general, learning how to apply this new knowledge of the present simple tense was one of my weaknesses, and it’s definitely something I need to improve. Overall, learning about habits and routines, permanent situations, timetables, general truths, prepositions and likes, and dislikes was easy and fun for me. One piece of advice I would give to my classmates is to start talking to each other in English and practice together to improve our weaknesses.
